The standout star here is undoubtedly the Shanghai Steamed Soup Dumplings. Each delicate dumpling bursts with savory, rich broth and tender pork filling, creating an experience that’s both comforting and indulgent. Equally mouthwatering are the Pan Fried Pork Buns (生包), perfectly crispy on the bottom with soft, pillowy dough encasing luscious pork. For noodle lovers, dishes like Beef Chow Fun and Shanghai-Style Stir Fried Noodles showcase expertly wok-tossed noodles that carry a smoky, slightly charred depth of flavor.
Beyond the dumplings and noodles, the menu features comforting classics such as Hot & Sour Soup (力汤) with its tangy and spicy balance, and Soy Braised Lion Head Meatballs that melt in your mouth with their hearty, umami-rich sauce. Vegetables are treated with care here, too — the Fried Spinach with Garlic (波才) is lightly sautéed to retain its vibrant color and fresh crunch, while the Broccoli with Shredded Pork offers a savory, satisfying combination. For a sweet finish, don’t miss the Fried Red Bean & Banana (炸江南), where the sweetness of red bean paste and ripe bananas are wrapped in a golden, crispy batter—simply irresistible.
Customers consistently praise the restaurant’s ability to bring authentic and fresh flavors to each dish. 'The food is amazing and the service is excellent!' raves one diner who fell in love with the sweet and sour chicken and pork soup dumplings. Another highlights the mango lassi — a surprisingly refreshing beverage that pairs perfectly with the rich flavors of the meal.

The food is amazing and the service is excellent! We had the sweet and sour chicken, the pork soup dumplings, and lamb potstickers. I would highly recommend any of these dishes, but also any others on the menu. Every dish he brought out to other tables had me wondering why I didn’t order that too!
Decent spot, has a neighborhood vibe. Service was fast and efficient while also taking care of take out orders. Wontons had substantial filling. Hot and sour soup was a bit too sweet for me. Noodle were slightly over for my liking. Sweet and sour pork had a great breading but there were also pieces without pork. Beef and tofu was similar to my childhood. Eggplant was oily. I was very excited to see the sugar egg puffs on the menu and they didn’t disappoint.
Came here on an overcast Sunday, it was pretty empty but it seems more like a takeout type of spot. Customer service was great, we started off with some hot tea, Thai tea and green beans which were perfectly crunchy and garlicky. We then got the spicy pork dumplings and pan fried pork buns. It was all great, not greasy. Glad I found this new local spot for dim sun
Very good service, beverage, and food! I had vegetable fried rice and it was delicious. Also, I had the wonton soup and potstickers, but my favorite was the fried rice. Beverage- I had the mango Lassie and omg it was so good, I highly recommend it.
Shanghai Dumpling King is hands down one of the best local gems in the neighborhood. I honestly go back and forth about even writing this review—because the food is so good that I don’t want it to get so popular I can’t find a table! From the perfectly delicate soup dumplings to the flavorful stir-fried dishes, everything is consistently fresh, authentic, and made with care. The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the service is always warm and welcoming. It’s the kind of place you find yourself coming back to again and again. Truly a neighborhood treasure.
